Music is our expression, our voice. Against any war, always, now more than ever. Our contribution “UR-1 Kyiv 41” will be available on Bandcamp on Friday 4th March, during the Bandcamp Fridays in free download.
UR-1 is the first channel of public Ukrainian Radio, on air since 1924. Began in Kharkiv In the first years of the USSR Kharkiv was the capital of Ukraine, from December 1919 to January 1934, after which the capital relocated to Kyiv, together with headquarters of Ukrainian Radio.
During the World War II, Ukrainian Radio never ceased its operations.

In the summer of 1941, Dieter Keller was one of millions of Nazi soldiers who stormed into the Soviet Union in the invasion dubbed Operation Barbarossa.
Keller (above) survived the war and eventually returned to civilian life with a smuggled collection of photographs of the atrocities he witnessed.

UR-1 è il primo canale della radio pubblica ucraina, in onda dal 1924. Ha iniziato a Kharkiv, nei primi anni dell'URSS Kharkiv è stata la capitale dell'Ucraina, dal dicembre 1919 al gennaio 1934 , dopo di che la capitale si è trasferita a Kiev, insieme alla sede della Radio ucraina.
Durante la seconda guerra mondiale, la Radio ucraina non ha mai cessato le sue operazioni.

Nell'estate del 1941, Dieter Keller fu uno dei milioni di soldati nazisti che fecero irruzione nell'Unione Sovietica nell'invasione soprannominata Operazione Barbarossa.
Keller (sopra) è sopravvissuto alla guerra e alla fine è tornato alla vita civile con una raccolta di fotografie di contrabbando delle atrocità a cui ha assistito.
